2020s

2020s

2020 - COVID safety measures are put in place to reduce the spread of the virus. These efforts led to SJC becoming the first California airport awarded the GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation in 2021, recognizing SJC’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

2021 - Zoom Zone, an educational play space designed and built by the Children’s Museum of San José, opens in Terminal B. Spanning 600 square feet, this interactive amenity encourages young travelers to think about the creatures and objects that fly, while experimenting with the roles that air, wind, wings and design play in flight.

2022 - Fire Station 20, an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station for the San José Fire Department (SJFD), opens on Coleman Avenue, just north of Airport Boulevard. This new station includes facilities and resources that expand SJFD coverage beyond the airport, including residents and businesses.

2023 - A new brand identity is introduced, emphasizing the uniquely simple and convenient travel experience SJC offers. The update includes the launch of a new logo and a name change. SJC is now San José Mineta International Airport.
